Music available on this site includes original copyrighted works as wells as new copyrighted texts and arrangements incorporating public-domain material. The information below explains how these resources may be used and how to request permission when needed.

Local Church Worship Use

If your church would like to use one of my songs in congregational worship, I am glad to make that as simple as possible. Because my music is not currently administered through CCLI, please contact me directly for permission when reproducing copyrighted lyrics or music, making copies for musicians, or using the work in other ways that require authorization.

There is currently no charge for ordinary local church worship use of my music when permission is granted directly.

Arrangements

If you would like to create a new arrangement, orchestration, or instrumental setting of one of my copyrighted songs for use by your local church, please contact me for permission before doing so. I am generally glad to grant permission for church-specific arrangements without charge.

When permission is granted, the arrangement should retain the original song attribution and copyright notice and should include an appropriate credit for the arranger. I also ask that a PDF copy of the completed score and parts be provided to me for my records.

Permission to create an arrangement for local-church use does not include permission to publish, sell, license, or distribute the arrangement outside that church. Providing me with a copy of an arrangement does not transfer ownership of the arranger’s original contributions or automatically grant me permission to distribute the arrangment.

Livestreaming & Recordings

If you would like to include a live performance of one of my songs in your church’s worship service livestream or archived service, please include that in your permission request.

For standalone recordings, commercial releases, published arrangements, or other uses beyond an ordinary church worship service, please contact me before using the work.

Public Domain Material

Some works on this site incorporate public domain hymn texts or tunes. Copyright notices on each resource identify the portions that are newly copyrighted. Permission requirements apply only to copyrighted material owned by Michael Phillips, Jr., not to underlying material that is in the public domain.

CCLI

My music is not currently administered through CCLI. A church’s CCLI license therefore should not be assumed to provide permission for copyrighted material available on this site. Please use the contact information above to request permission directly.
